My Prius My NEW Prius
On August 30, 2004 I bought a slightly used 2004 Toyota Prius on E-Bay. If you are not familiar with the Prius, it is a gasoline/electric Hybrid four door hatchback that gets exceptional gas mileage and emits very very little pollution. I picked it up from a private party in Sun City West Arizona. Here is a the E-Bay picture of my Prius in Sun City West waiting for me.
Driving it the 360 miles home to San Diego with the outside temperature at 111 degrees (inside it was a constant 71 air-conditioned degrees) at maximum legal speeds up and down the mountain passes it got 52.5 MPG. There was no need to stop for gas
On April 17, 2005 I participated a San Diego Prius Club event to gauge real world gas mileage. On a 58 mile city/suburban drive the average mileage of twenty three cars was 51.3 MPG. My car did 51.5, the best mileage was 62.3 mpg.
UPDATE - After six years of trouble-free ownership On November 19, 2009 I bought a brand new white 2010 Prius IV with Navigation, very similar to the one shown below and sold my 2004.
